Attendance Office

Every School Day Counts

Report an Absence

If your student is going to be absent, please email Sara Warner by 10:00 am on the day of the absence.

  • An email/guardian note is required describing the reason for the absence.

  • All parent/guardian emails must be received from an email address that we have on file for your student.

  • This information must be documented in writing.

We cannot accept phone calls and voicemails for attendance notifications.

  • The student's legal first and last name and student id must appear on all notes.

  • Written documentation of each absence must be received within 5 days from the date of the absence.  Otherwise, the absence will be unexcused.

Unlike elementary school, attendance is taken each class period in middle school. If a student arrives late to school or leaves early, they will be marked absent for the class periods they miss.  A doctor's note will apply only to the dates indicated on the doctor's note. Email (written documentation) is required even if the student is picked up from school and the guardian advises about the absence verbally.

Please allow at least 72 hours of processing time from when the written absence notification was submitted and the time your absence has been updated in Home Access Center.

Report an Absence

Family/individual vacations/visits scheduled during regular school days are not excusable absences. These absences will be counted as unexcused absences regardless of the number of days missed.

For more information regarding Northwest ISD's attendance guidelines please refer to the Student Code of Conduct.

Attendance Records may be checked online in the Home Access Center

If there is a discrepancy in attendance, the student should email that teacher to resolve the issue. The attendance office cannot change a teacher's attendance records that were submitted without receiving notification from the teacher who originally took the attendance.
